Happy New Years everyone! The Mexico preliminaries are coming up on the first weekend of February so lets get back to introducing the regional event winners.

The 5th pair of finalists at Anime-Holic in Sinaloa, Mexico. Nancy and Claudia Durán came out on top with a performance from the series Fairy Musketeers.

Anime-Holic is held in the city of Culiacan in Sinaloa state. Sinaloa lies on the west coast of Mexico and Culiacan is about 1200 km north west of Mexico City. The state has a population of 2.2 million people and is famous for beautiful beaches of Mazatlan.

This is the 5th installment of the Anime-Holic event. You can find more information about it on their blog here or junocosplay has uploaded a video about the event which you can watch here.

Mexico Regionals - Veracon

Mexico's ambitious series of regionals continued on the 10th of December with the 6th installment held at Veracon. The event took place in the port city of Veracruz and the winners were Xochiquetzal Atilano and Miguel Angel Velasco who performed from Howl's Moving Castle.

With a population of almost 8 million, Veracruz is the 3rd largest city in Mexico. Known as having been the center of Olmec culture 3500 years ago, Veracruz is also famous for being the landing point for Hernán Cortés in his conquest of the Aztecs in 1519. It lies on the east coast and with a distance of 425 kilometers it is relatively close to Mexico City .

Check out the Veracon event web page here and you can see the cosplay stage in the video here. Go to 6:08 to see the winning performance and check out 0:42 for a peek at the Mexico WCS organizers Mario and Marmota!

Mexico Regionals - Winter-Fest

With the Mexico preliminaries at TNT around the corner there are 3 more finalist teams to introduce. The 7th pair is Pablo Calderon and Nadya Anton who won the Winter-Fest event stage in Chihuahua with a performance from Soul Calibur 3.

Looks like they have put together some great costumes, I'd really like to take a closer look at how they put together sword for Nightmare Soul!

Chihuahua is the largest state in Mexico and at about 250,000 square kilometers it is larger than the UK in size. It shares a border with Texas in the United States and is an arid region famous for the Copper Canyon.

Congratulations Nadya and Pablo, good luck in Mexico City!

Mexico Regionals - Tsunami

The Mexico finals at Expo TNT are a week away, here is the 8th competing pair. The regional round was held at the Tsunami event in Yucatan province with the winners being Irvin Manuel Franco Segovia and Ricardo Andrei Duran Parra. They performed Andromeda Shun and Phoenix Ikki from Saint Saiya.

Tsunami held its 18th installment in the capital city of Yucatan province Merida. With a population of about 1 million Merida has half of the population of the province. The Yucatan area is famous for its thick jungle, the ancient Mayan empire and the ruins of Chichen Itza - a world heritage site. The driving distance to Mexico City would be almost 1300 kilometers so Irvin and Ricardo will probably take a plane.

Take a look at the Tsunami web site here and the winning performance here.

Congratulations!
