Partner Organization: Hangzou True Design Company Ltd. (杭州成誠設計有限公司) Located near the same West Lake that Marco Polo marveled about so long ago, the city of Hangzou in Zhejiang Province boasts a very active Anime, Manga and Cosplay community centered on a new advertising agency created last year. In July 2005 when the political climate between China and Japan was quite tense, one company rose up and offered to act as a bridge of friendship between the 2 countries becoming the partner organization for the Chinese preliminary competition. This year the Japanese government has also given its verbal backing for the event beginning with the holding of the preliminary competition.

< Chinese Preliminary Competition Course of Events >

	Between March and April 2006 in 5 different cities around China (Guangdong, Wuhan, Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzou) regional competitions were held.

	From between April 28th to May 5th in Hangzou the “2nd Annual Chinese International Anime Fair” had a special event called the “Magnificent Cosplay Heavyweights” in which the World Cosplay Summit participated in having candidates selected. From April 28th to 30th the Hangzou regional competition was held and on May 1st and 2nd the finalists from all 5 cities of Guangdong, Wuhan, Beijing, Shanghai and Hangzou took part in the final competition.

	Through the course of the final competition 5 teams were selected by the judges who were comprised of local judges and World Cosplay Summit staff.

	The 5 groups took to the stage one final time and displayed their performances. According to the crowds response the judges made their decisions. The final announcements and awards were made on May 3rd. A final performance extravaganza was also held that was broadcast by a local television station.
