Osu Cosplay Parade

The approaching cosplay parade (August 4 (Sat)) will be held as usual in collaboration with this year’s Osu festival. The cosplay parade will feature representative cosplayers from 12 countries. Why don’t you march with us?

How to participate, cautions etc
[Changing Rooms]
  • The meeting rooms in TV Aichi’s headquarters (Osu 2-4-8, Naka-Ku, Nagoya City) can be used as changing rooms.
  • They can be used from 14:00 onwards. The reception will be at the main entrance of TV Aichi.
  • As space is limited, the changing areas will be limited to the first 100 people.
  • The changing areas can be used until 19:00. Please be sure to take all valuables with you.
    It is possible to leave bags in the changing areas, but please look after these yourselves.
    We accept no responsibility if, for some reason, something is lost.
  • Please note that the changing areas will be closed while the parade takes place.
[The Parade]
  • Anyone can participate in the cosplay parade which starts at 16:00. We also welcome those who join the parade halfway through.
  • The cosplay parade is for cosplayers only.

Toru Furuya

Japan’s premier male voice actor who has performed in many famous Japanese anime such as ‘Mobile Suit Gundam’ (playing Amuro Rei), ‘The Star of the Giant’ (playing Hoshi Hyuma), ‘Dragon Ball’ (playing Yamucha) and the ‘Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon’ series (playing Mamoru Chiba/Tuxedo Mask) etc. He has supported the Cosplay Summit since 2004, and is an indelible fixture at the World Cosplay Summit.

Shoko Nakagawa

A multi-talented idol who is an actress, voice actress, illustrator, and singer. Her pet name is Shokotan. The number of people who access her ‘Shokotan blog’ has exploded, and it is updated with blistering frequency. She is famous for her love of anime, manga, anime songs, and cosplay. She is also known as a singer of anime songs. In her debut, she reached number 3 on the Oricon Singles Chart (July 9) with the opening song ‘Blue sky days‘ from the anime ‘Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann’.

Monkey Punch

1957: In Tokyo. While working at a publishing company, he was a volunteer manga artist for a fanzine. At first he introduced his manga by loaning them out.
1965: Made his debut as a manga artist with the 4-frame ‘nonsense’ (humorous) manga, ‘Playboy School’.
1966: With the pen name that he now uses, published mainly universal action manga that were largely in the western and SF genres.
1967: From a small company, launched the series ‘Weekly manga action’ and ‘Lupin III ’at the same time and in the same magazine.
1971:’Lupin III’ was launched as a TV anime series.
1981: Won the Inkpot Prize at the San Diego Comic Convention.
2001: Won the Gold Medal Prize at Romics, the Rome Comic Festival.   
2001: Assumed the Presidency of the inaugural Digital Manga Association.
2004: AMD Lifetime Achievement Award 
2005: Ended his tenure at the Department of Multimedia Studies at Tokyo University of Technology.
Currently works in computer graphics manga production and is Professor in the Department of Media and Arts at Otemae Univeristy.

水木一郎

Ichiro Mizuki

Beginning in 1971 with the theme song to ‘Ryu, the Primitive Boy’, ‘Mazinger Z’, ‘Babel II’, and ‘Our Barom I’, he has continued to sing a number of anime and SFX songs. Known as the king of the anime song world, he has over 1000 songs in his repertoire, and is popularly known as ‘older brother’. In 1999, he set a record for a live performance of 1000 songs in 24 hours. He made history with the most number of songs in a solo live performance in Japan.
In 2003 he took up an offer from the charismatic DJ, Dimitri From Paris, and they collaborated on ‘My Mazinger Z (Black version, 2003)’, and ‘Everyone wants to be a cat (2005)’, widening his appeal far beyond the domestic Japanese market.
In 2004 the theme song ‘Zebraman’s song’ in the movie ‘Zebraman’ became popular. In 2007, after he sang the ending theme song ‘Tao’ of the ‘Power Rangers’, he sang the main theme song of the ‘super squadron series’.
He’s been making children’s dreams and wishes come true for more than 30 years. Spreading the treasure that is anime songs throughout the world, he’ll accede to the next generation, continuing new challenges.

Essai Ushijima

Columnist and critic. Started doing cosplay when he was a junior high school student. Beginning with the comic market, he has had a key role in the management of many cosplay events. He has written many books and columns on cosplay. He has spoken systematically on this and is without equal; he is known worldwide.

Rules at the World Cosplay Summit 2007

On the day, many spectators will come to Oasis 21.
When doing cosplay or taking photos inside Oasis 21, we ask that you follow the directions of the staff and do not cause problems for spectators. If you fail to follow the rules, we regret to say that you will be removed from the venue. We kindly ask for your understanding and cooperation.

  1. Please carry all valuables with you. Please look after your own bag (s) respectively. We take no responsibility in the event of any losses.
  2. When using imitation cosplay goods, please use materials that will not cause injury to others.
  3. Changing areas have been set up within Oasis 21. Please use the designated changing areas; please note that it is not a toilet. Leaving baggage and rubbish etc is prohibited.
  4. The changing areas can be used by all cosplayers. We ask that you please use it in a manner of mutual respect.
  5. The World Cosplay Summit 2007 is a festival showcasing Japanese manga, animation and games. As the main purpose of the event, we ask that you wear suitable costumes for the event. Costumes that are too exposed or scantily-clad, cross-dressing, realistic military attire, civil servants costumes etc are prohibited. Failure to comply with the above-mentioned points will unfortunately result in the termination of your cosplay and removal from the event.
  6. Aside from Donguri Republic and the NHK Character Shop, it is possible to go into eating and drinking establishments in costume. However, for those shops that you are allowed to enter in wearing cosplay costumes, please do not cause trouble for other patrons. For each of the stores and eating/drinking establishments, please take note of what the staff says.
  7. The weather is forecast to be very hot on the day of the event. Please note that measures/preparation for the heat, especially the provision of water, are your own responsibility.
  8. Please follow the directions and instructions of the staff when taking photos of cosplayers and please behave respectfully.
    *Taking photos in the middle of the aisles, using a tripod, talking too much or generally causing trouble for other patrons is prohibited. If you fail to follow the rules, we regret to say that you will be removed from the venue. We ask for your understanding and cooperation in this matter.
    * For those taking photos, please ask the cosplayers themselves for permission before taking any photos of them. Taking photos secretly, or any actions pertaining to this, will result in removal from the hall.
  9. Taking video is prohibited.
    If anyone is discovered to be taking video, they will immediately be taken under the supervision of the sponsor’s staff, and please note that the video that has been taken will be seized and destroyed.

The 2006 World Cosplay Summit championships will be held at Oasis 21 in the heart of Nagoya!

From Nagoya station take the subway Higashiyama line and get off at Sakae station.
From Kanayama station take the Meijo subway line and get off at Sakae station.
The cosplay championship will be held at the ”Milky Way Plaza” In the center of the Oasis 21 complex.There will be a number of events taking place here.
There are various shops surrounding the ”Milky Way Plaza”.You may enter all of the shops dressed in your cosplay costume except for, Donguri Kyouwakoku & the NHK character shop.However summer time is a busy season and there will be many other people in and around Oasis 21 so we should be on our best behavior.
You are free to roam around in costume within the Oasis 21 facilities.
There are many ideal photo spots such as the sloping 2nd floor park "Green Landscapes" and the suspended glass pavilion roof the “Floating Lake”.
If you decide to go up to the “Floating Lake” when you get to the rooftop you will be treated to a great panoramic shot of Nagoya with its most famous symbol - the TV tower - directly in the background.
