We had a live performance by our two wonderful guests during the interval while the judges prepared the results for the 14 teams.Shokotan sang the theme song ‘Sorairo Days’ from the anime ‘Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann’ and the theme song from ‘Kenshin the Wanderer’ and enthusiastically covered Makoto Kawamoto’s song ‘1/2’. I think you will already know this, but ‘Shokotan Covers x 2’ is now being recorded, and will go on sale on September 19. On this day, all of you who gathered at Oasis 21 were lucky as you got to hear this early! ‘Older brother’ Ichiro Mizuki sung many famous songs very enthusiastically, such as Super electromagnetic robokon butler V, Steel Jeeg, Babel II, Space Pirate Captain Herlock, Lupin the Third, etc. That is why he is the Emperor of the anime song world, with over 1000 songs in his repertoire! That is really something! Furthermore, we had a duet between Shoko Nakagawa and ‘older brother’ Ichiro Mizuki! The theme song ‘Yoru no Gin Gitsune to Tameki’ from ‘Kariage-kun’ that was chosen was kind of cool, and was a dreamlike collaboration which may be the first or even the last.

After two and a half hours of the championships we finally came to the judge’s announcement of the results!! The Brother Prize (Judge’s Special Prize) went to Entry No.5, Mexico.
Alejandra and Linaloe were presented with a Brother super-slim digital ‘MyMio MFC-850CDN’ Multifunction Machine. The runners-up were Entry No.13, the Japan B team.
Kikiwan and Naoki Shigure were presented with manga and anime goods worth \100,000. And the recipients of the World Cosplay Summit 2007 Cosplay Championship Grand Champion and Foreign Ministry Prize were…………..
Entry No.2, the French team!
The representatives from France, Damian and Isabelle, were presented with a trophy, the Foreign Minister’s Prize, a Certificate and an extra prize, and round-trip tickets between France and Japan!
Isabelle: “I am so very happy!”
Damian: “I’m really happy. But really all the teams here are winners. Thank you very much!”

We, the judges, judge your performances very seriously, and all the world cosplayers showed us wonderful performances. Regardless of who wins, all the teams were wonderful. To be honest, it was very difficult to choose who to award prizes to. Manga and Japanese animation is loved throughout the world, and I am happy that this is the home of manga. Please give all the cosplayers who took part a big round of applause!
The farewell was provided by Ichiro Mizuki singing his famous song ‘Mazinger Z’.
To all the world cosplayers who showed us a very high level of performances and costumes, and to all the spectators who came and watched in the heat, we’d like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts! We hope that the World Cosplay Summit 2007 will be a memory that you never forget.
