One of Japan’s greatest amusement park Cosplay events, with a long history. Over 2000 people gather for the event each time it is held.

April 25th (Fri)
Entry for the World Cosplay Summit 2008 opens on the official homepage.

2:

May 11th (Sun)
Deadline for entry.

3:

May 12th (Mon)
The results of the second round of the contest as decided by the judges will be emailed to all 10 group applicants who are to participate.

4:

May 18th (Sun)
The Japan Preliminary Contest will be held at Tokyo Dome City Cosplay Festa. The judges choose 1 team from the 10 candidate teams.

Deluxe prize

At the dazzling Japan preliminary rounds, the cosplayers who will be crowned victors will receive the top-class prize of a "Home Lock Stitch Kagari III DF4 Sewing Machine" from Brother Industries.
The "Home Lock Stitch Kagari III DF4' features adjustable stitches and secure, uniform sewing. It gives a beautiful finish, from thin to thick cloth. Make sure you win this lock sewing machine when you compete in the preliminary round!

Perks for participants:

*Free tickets for the Cosplay Festa will be provided for those taking part in the preliminary round.
*Discounted tickets will also be provided to those who do not pass the application process.

How to participate in the preliminary contest:

Participation is for 1 team of 2 people.
*Cosplays are to be taken from Japanese manga, animation and game characters.
*Costumes are to be hand-made.It is forbidden to use ready-made goods.Hopefully, contestants themselves will hand-made their costumes, but friends and family are allowed to help out.
*Performances in the second round of the preliminary contest are to be completed within 3 minutes.
*Please arrange sound for your performances yourselves.

1st Round Judging/Selection Process:

The sponsors of the World Cosplay Summit 2008 will choose from the documents and photos received.

2nd Round Judging/Selection Process:

Using Japanese anime, manga or games in performances within a 3 minute time frame, contestants will be judged on the originality of their performances.

2nd Round Judging:

The judge grades them by three categories "Performance", "Costumes" and "Loyalty to the original work and composition of the performance".
[1] Performance (10 points)
Strength of performance, creativity,entertainment value.
[2] Costumes (10 points)
Workmanship/quality, and how faithful the costume is to the character in the original work.
[3] Loyalty to the original work and composition of the performance (5 points)
How faithful is the performance to the original work’s story and characters?
