J-Popkai is hosting scandinavians biggest, oldest still existing anime, manga and Japanese popculture convention J-Popcon.J-Popcon has been held annually since 2000. J-Popcons cosplay competition in 2000 was Denmark's first cosplay event. J-Popcon is splitted in two sections.The closed convention part with anime screening, lectures, paneldiscussions, artist alley, competitions, games and Cosplay event, everything thats related to anime and manga fanculture. The other section being the fair which is free in directed towards normal people with kids or a smaller interest in anime manga, or potential new people that don't know anything about anime and manga. J-Popcon expects to have 1500 attendees (depends on the way to count, if counted as persons each day then it's 3000) in the convention part and 2000-3000 in the open fair part.
J-Popcon cosplay competition has 7-8 categories to win in. Each category has a certain amount of rules and criteria to be able win in. The danish WCS preliminary in one category, though seen as the grand championship. Thus cosplayers cosplaying in groups of more than 2 or as singles can participate in the championships but cannot win the preliminary of WCS, but win in singles category or other categories, each entrants can win several categories if eligible to win.
At J-Popcon this year there will be 45 different entrants at the Cosplay championship. Though not everyone is eligible for WCS preliminary.
Application is made on the J-Popcon web. The cosplayers asking for application will have to answer if they are participating at WCS prelimanaries or not. The maximum number of entrants are 45 and chosen as the first 45 entrants to send in an application. cosplayers that did not become among the first 45 will not be able to compete in the cosplay competition.
J-Popcon will be held in the vicinity of Copenhagen called Valby. At Valby
Special guests from Japan:Yazawa Nao(Mangaka of Wedding Peach), Morimoto Kenjirou(Game producer from Sonic team, Sega).
Cosplayer guests:Renee Gloger(USA WCS2008), Anna Degenhard(Germany WCS2007), Karen Heinrich(German champion in Cosplay 2007) various other.

Preliminary Round Course of Events

[1] Application is made on J-Popcon web. The maximum number of entrants are 45 and chosen as the first 45 entrants to send in an application.
[2] The preliminary round (stage performances) will be held as part of the 'J-Popcon' event on November 9th (Sun), 2008. The judges selected 1 team of 2 people to be Danish representatives.
