The Romics Cosplay Parade is the gateway to Japan

Romics offers a unique opportunity for Italian Cosplayers. Since 2004, when the World Cosplay Summit was launched in Nagoya, Japan, by TV Aichi, Romics has been the official venue for selection of the Italian representatives who compete in the WCS finals the following year: The Romics Cosplay Parade is the gateway to Japan where our Cosplayers compete for the world’s most coveted title.

Over one thousand participants take part in the preliminary round

From 2 to 5 October 2008 at the New Rome Fair, ROMICS hosted the heats for the World Cosplay Summit 2009: four days of Cosplay frenzy in the run up to the WCS. Over one thousand participants from all over Italy registered to take part in the preliminary rounds held in a theatre with 1,500 seats: standing room only on Saturday 4 October from 10:00 to 15:00 and in the afternoon of Sunday 5 October.
A crescendo of expectation led to the spectacular final event held on an open-air stage. The indoor facilities could no longer contain the audience which reached a peak of 10,000, all eager to watch the fantastic performances of the 100 finalists.
A breathtaking presentation of groups and individual characters displaying their most elaborate costumes.
Competition is fierce and the artistic quality of the performances and costumes exceeds expectations year after year. The audience is particularly active and demanding, not to mention the Jury of cosplay experts, TV and entertainment personalities and cosplay champions from previous editions.
After much heated discussion and deliberation, the Jury members made their final decision:
The Italian representatives at the World Cosplay Summit 2009 will be Elena D'Ambrosio Valentina (Ashe B'Nargin Dalmasca) and Marco Battistini (Rasler Heios Nabradia from "Final Fantasy XII") who are now busy putting the final touches to their costumes and performances for the competition in Nagoya in August, supported in their quest by the ROMICS cosplay fans from all over Italy!
