The beautiful Singapore, known to Japan as the “Star Port”, hosted the World Cosplay Summit Singapore on the 12th July 2009 at the Cosfest VIII: A Very Happy Event. With an audienceship of 18,000, it is the biggest Cosplay Convention in Singapore.
Cosfest and World Cosplay Summit Singapore is supported by the Embassy ofJapan, Japan Creative Centre, ANA, JAL, Japan National Tourism Office, Yokoso Japan and Toshiba.
Cosfest VIII: A Very Happy Event was hosted over two days.

Anime Karaoke Competition
Here, Anime fans expressed their love for anime titles by joining in the Anime Karaoke Competition. The Champion gets to walk away with a 42 Inch Toshiba LCD TV! Why, they could sing all day long on that big TV.

Singles Cosplay Competition
Our cosplay friends joined us from all around Asia, as we see Indonesian, Phillipines, Malaysia and of course Singaporeans, join the competition.
The Singles Cosplay Winner was Alex Louis Armstrong from Full Metal Alchemist who rocked the house with his extremely outstanding performance.
He walked away with the prize of an air ticket to Tokyo.

From the Team Cosplay Competition, 5 World Cosplay Summit pairs would be chosen to compete in the World Cosplay Summit Singapore Finals!
This round was a very competitive and engaging experience.
World Cosplay Summit Singapore Finals
As it turned out, we had 6 pairs chosen in the end! A tie for the 5th position resulted in the audience getting to see yet another one more good performance!

The World Cosplay Summit Finals was a serious fight for the title of Champion!
The xxxHolic team brought about a skit with comic relief and one marvels at how they brought about such a big prop and the ingenious use of lighting to create mysterious shadow effects.
The Air Gear team performance was perfectly timed and executed with the ultimate gracefulness and skill. Well rehearsed and coordinated, this pair had complete trust in one another as they brought their unique performance to the audiences.
The Macross Frontier team, which ultimately emerged the Champion pair to represent Singapore, had beautiful costumes and well trained vocals to complement their performance. With breathtaking wonder, they transformed into new costumes onstage, truly the spirit of Cosplay!
The Code Geass team brought about a soulful performance. One is reminded of attending a grand Broadway show as you would appreciate their performance.
The Paradise Kiss performance was a delight to revel in as you see characters of different personalities coming together to bring you an entertaining performance.
Shakugan No Shana was an engaging performance to watch as Shana skillfully shows you her powerful strikes. Together with her partner, they are a good combination of talents and good showsmanship.
